Polpure, a family-owned business based in Orange, NSW, is dedicated to optimising waste management practices across Australia. Their focus is on creating solutions that are safe, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective.
Originally specialising in liquid waste processing, Polpure recently expanded into solid waste management. They quickly realised the time-consuming process of baling materials like plastic and cardboard, whilst using repurposed sheep skin presses. The process, which involves two staff members working for three hours to produce a single 400kg bale, became increasingly unsustainable due to rising customer demand.
To address this challenge, Polpure attended the IFAT trade show in Germany in 2024, where they discovered Strautmann's advanced, semi-automated baling machinery. Impressed by the technology, they connected with local distributor, CEMAC technologies and chose to invest in the BaleTainer® which provides an automated tie off solution and is designed for a 24/7 operation.
Polpure collects solid waste material from food and beverage manufacturing plants. The materials are largely uncontaminated, requiring only manual inspection before baling. Polpure’s BaleTainer®, capable of producing 3-4 bales per hour of cardboard and plastic, is equipped with a hopper for forklift feeding. As throughput increases, it can be easily adapted to a conveyor-fed system or integrated into warehouse process flows. The BaleTainer® also offers four additional feeding options, including hand fed, ramp, tilt and lift, and wall connection.
This new equipment enables Polpure to produce 3-4 ~400kg bales per hour, fully automating the process and eliminating manual handling. With quiet operation and the ability to run 24/7, the BaleTainer® more than triples baling productivity at the Polpure site, improves staff ergonomics by reducing injury risks, and allows employees to focus on more valuable tasks, boosting overall plant throughput.
